Sometimes dogs really suprise you.

I can't tell you how many times one of the dogs in my life have really done something that totally surprised me beyond belief. The relationship Melos has with Connor is a big one. I was so concerned when Connor was born that Melos would be terribly jealous as up till then he was my "baby" but from the moment Connor came home from the hospital Melos has rarely left Connor's side. Even now during the toddler years Connor is not allowed to touch Melos (these are Melo's rules) but it would be a shock to not find that dog within feet from Connor except when they are sleeping.

Air Bud is the first movie from the series of Bud movies and if you ask me its by far still my favorite. Just released in a special edition that if anyone is a dog lover in the family its a must own. The story opens with Josh, Josh is at a new school and though he really wants to be on the basketball team he is scared. Arg, I can't even tell you how often I was the new kid in school. We must have moved at least 12 times when I was growing up and I know how Josh must have felt and like Josh I relied on my animals for security. Josh meets Buddy a runaway golden retriever who desperately needs a friend as well. Buddy has a secret talent though and ironically its the ability to score baskets. The only problem is Buddy's former owner wants him back when he finds out that Buddy is attracting a bunch of attention and he is not a good guy. It's up to Josh to protect his new friend and the new bond they have.

Air Bud has been released in a new special edition which is pretty neato as it includes a limited edition Air Bud dog tag, the orginal theatrical trailer, and a cool dog driven commentary from all the buddies. Connor especially loves his dog tag as it has a little puppy paw on it and Connor points at it and says "dog". Yeh I know, he still has a fairly limited vocabulary.
