I AM IRONMAN!!!!

I never got to see Iron Man in the theater.. blame it on the little person, blame it on school, blame it on the blog.. but needless to say somehow though I totally meant to do it I just never got to the movie theater, like so many other movies I had my heart set on seeing. Needless to say when it arrived here I did a super happy dance (Connor joined in as well.. heh) but I was a little paranoid that all this excitement would be for nothing.

Iron Man was not my favorite comic book hero.. after all he isn't exactly a super hero at all unless you consider being smart a super power... and unlike Batman who also does not have his own super powers, he's covered in metal. It's a lot easier to act like a bad a** when you have a neat metal suit on. So if it hadn't been for the amazingly good trailer I would have left Iron Man on the shelf just like I did with the comics.

However, something just compelled me to see it, and I mean I seriously got more excited about Iron Man's release than I did Dark Knight... I guess I felt maybe the movie would possibly redeem Iron Man , and boy did it.

Ironman's character was the cocky self adsorbed a** you really imagine him to be throughout the first half of the movie, ok.. the whole movie.. but he does grow on you. Rich, powerful, kinda cute, incredibly intelligent, all the things you'd expect out of Bruce Wayne but with more attitude. A weapon's designer by trade he designs weapons for the US to keep us ahead of the game, but unfortunately after being abducted by some very hostile extremist group in the middle east he realizes that his weapons are being used as much for bad as for the greater good. He's asked to build a missile while he is being held hostage but instead he builds his first Iron Man suit and escapes.

I really don't want to tell you anymore than that as I don't want to ruin it for you, but if you really hate him at the beginning of the movie just keep watching I promise he will grow on you and though not on the same level at Dark Knight, Iron Man is easily one of the best movies of the year and it certainly made me do a second look at Iron Man as a character.

One little teaser though, Stan Lee always makes a surprise appearance in every Marvel movie.. his appearance in this one almost made me fall out of my chair, watch for him you can't miss him and its the best one yet.
